3 Busted Myths about Winter Weddings
While most weddings take place in the summer months, there still are a lot of events scheduled for what wedding professionals call the off-season, aka the cold season. Sure enough planning a wedding in the cold season can be a bit tricky but it could also be magical.
Today we are going to bust some of the most common myths about winter weddings.
From the wedding attire to the ceremony and venue, brides and grooms need to be a bit more attentive with their choices when it comes to winter weddings. The cold and risk of heavy storms can be off-putting so it’s really easy to see why most people tend to avoid setting their wedding during November through March. But for the daring couples, the cold season has plenty of opportunities to create a magical background for a fairy tale wedding and oftentimes on a much more affordable budget.
Myth #1 : Everything will be indoors. How boring.
Of course it’s going to be cold in winter… It’s the cold season. But that doesn’t mean you need to keep everything indoors. You can choose to have an outdoor ceremony with warm shawls and blankets for your guests, or maybe an outdoor photo session that’s going to look out of this world. As long as you plan ahead and let everybody know there’s going to be some outdoors involved, you can make sure the cold isn’t going to bothersome. Plus, you can’t beat that beautiful, natural shade of pink on your cheeks.
Myth #2 : There’s no way you can have flowers at a winter wedding
Sorry, but that’s no excuse. Sure enough peonies in December are a bit eccentric, but not impossible. The good news is that nowadays you can get blooms year-round. And we’ve see some very beautiful winter wedding arrangements featuring roses, tulips and even ranunculus. Oh and for a touch of extra winter magic, go nuts with greenery, fir and pine cones. Just too cute.
Myth #3 : You can’t wear a fab wedding dress
This couldn’t be furthest from the truth. Even though you might prefer a long sleeve wedding dress because it’s cold, you can rest assured you will find long sleeved wedding dresses that look nothing but boring. Designers love to play with textures and dramatic details to give a classical design a modern and awe-inspiring look. Here are four bridal gowns with long sleeves from our own collection that prove a winter wedding dress doesn’t have to be boring.
And wait, we’re not done just yet with busting this winter wedding myth. It is totally acceptable and fine to wear strapless or even tea length wedding dresses.
Ok, ok, we hear you: “What, are you crazy? I’m going to freeze in that!” Well, you’re not. Let’s be honest, you’re not going to be outside for that long and if you’re worried about the cold, there are plenty of jackets, shawls and even wraps you can add to your bridal look to keep you warm. Oh, and did we mention these accessories can be super sophisticated and uber cute?
